Highfield House is the historic yet modern 1964 apartment building north of Johns Hopkins University designed by renowned architect Mies Van der Rohe. The Owners purchased a double apartment on the south end that was originally two separate mirror image 2 bedroom / 2 bath units with 9th floor views on three sides.  The owners hired Richstone for a whole apartment renovation before moving in.

Challenges and difficulties were huge starting with 2 inch thick solid plaster walls (no studs, no hollow spaces) with buried electrical conduit; concrete floors & ceilings, and restricted condominium work hours.

Several tons of plaster walls were removed, and new walls built to create three new bathrooms, kitchen, wet bar, laundry/utility room, etc;  We included LED suspended track lighting and wireless electrical switching.  The end result is a beautiful luxury contemporary apartment that will allow the owners to transition from family to a full empty nester lifestyle in a few short years.
